Free training course & qualification for volunteers

Playworks to train new ‘volunteer force’ of playworkers

Playworks is currently offering volunteers training in the following areas:

Safeguarding, First Aid, Games, Face Painting and Story Telling.

The training is designed to give volunteers a nationally recognised qualification endorsed by SKILLSACTIVE, the sector skills Council for Active Leisure and Learning – called Take 5 for Play.

The course gives volunteers the basis and knowledge of why play is an important part of children’s learning, and how and when children play. It also gives practical information on games and activities for all children, including children with disabilities and children who don’t speak English.

The aim of the course is to equip volunteers with the tools and information they need to work in play settings.

It also includes a volunteer placement so that volunteers can try out their new found skills in real-life play settings such as holiday clubs.

If you’re interested, or you know of someone who would benefit from this course, please call Wendy Russell on 07889 603 417 or email Wendy at wendy.russell@playworks.org.uk

Please note: volunteers will need to complete a CRB (police) check and volunteer at a play setting of their choice in order to complete the Take 5 qualification.
