Useful Documents

Below are some documents and links you may find useful in your work with children, young people and families. Some documents are  local such as, the Nottingham Play Strategy, and some are national such as Play England’s Charter for Children’s Play.

Nottingham Play Strategy. This document was developed by the Play Partnership in consultation with parents, carers, children and community groups click here

Play England. Their mission is to ensure that children and young people in England have the space and opportunity to play freely as part of their daily lives, at school and other services, at home, and throughout the public realm. Charter for Children’s Play. This document sets out a vision for play, plus the basic principles of what play means for children. Play England promote’s the adoption of this. To view the Charter  click here

National Children’s Bureau. NCB is the leading national charity which supports children, young people and families and those who work with them. Visit NCB’s website here

Play Work Principles. These 8 principles establish the professional and ethical frameworks for play work and are endorsed by the national training organisation for play work – SkillsActive click here

Play Wales. An independent charity funded by the Welsh Assembly Government, this website has many useful resources publications around play and play work. Visit their website here
