Street Play Project - Playing in the Community

Playmakers Street Play Project, is a three year project which is funded by the BIG Lottery fund, part of the Children’s Play Programme, and hosted by Playworks. The project will run until March 2011 and aims to facilitate and support play and playfulness on streets and parks across Nottingham City.
The Street Play Project is part of the ‘Playful Nottingham’ portfolio and includes five other projects addressing play in different ways from capital site development to outreach work.
Why
The Project aims to encourage children and young people, as well as their families and people in their communities, to take positive ownership of the areas in which they live, reclaiming them as play environments which are safe and challenging. We do this by facilitating free of charge, freely chosen, open access play sessions (aimed at children aged 5-15) where children take an active role in their own play.
